ABOUT ILMORA

A decade of making enterprise AI actually ship

Founded in 2016, Ilmora exists because most enterprise AI never leaves the pilot. We built a firm around the unfashionable disciplines — evaluation, governance, engineering rigor — that turn promising models into production systems.

OUR STORY

Built by engineers who were tired of slideware

Ilmora started with five senior engineers and one observation: enterprises were drowning in machine-learning strategy decks and starving for teams who could take a model from notebook to production. Our first client — a logistics operator whose forecasting project had stalled for eighteen months — went live in twenty weeks. They are still a client today.

Ten years later, we are 400+ engineers and researchers strong, and the thesis has not changed. We hire senior, we staff small pods, and we hold every engagement to the same bar: a measurable business outcome, an audited trail of how the system behaves, and a client team that can run it without us. That last part is deliberate — 98% of our clients stay, but none of them are hostages.

The work has evolved from predictive models to language systems to governed multi-agent workflows. The disciplines that make them trustworthy have stayed constant, and in 2026 we became one of the first firms of our size certified against ISO/IEC 42001 for responsible AI management.

MISSION

Turn frontier AI and first-class engineering into systems enterprises can trust, measure, and run — and leave every client organization more capable than we found it.

VISION

A world where autonomous systems carry the operational weight of the enterprise — safely, transparently, and under human governance that actually works.

VALUES

The principles we staff, promote, and fire by

Values that don't change behavior are decoration. These five show up in our hiring bar, our engagement reviews, and the occasional decision to walk away from revenue.

Outcomes over output

We measure engagements in business results — cycle times cut, revenue unlocked, risk retired — not story points burned. If a planned initiative won't move a metric that matters, we say so before you spend.

Engineering rigor, always

Evaluation suites before launch, audit trails by default, security review as a gate rather than a formality. The disciplines that make software trustworthy are non-negotiable, especially for AI systems.

Build with, not for

Our teams embed alongside yours — shared repos, shared standups, shared on-call. Every engagement transfers capability, so your organization is stronger when we leave than when we arrived.

Candor as a service

We tell clients what they need to hear: which pilots to kill, which estimates are optimistic, which vendor claims won't survive production. Honest counsel is the cheapest risk management there is.

Stay curious, stay current

Every engineer gets dedicated research time and a path into AI Labs. The field moves monthly; our clients pay for judgment that is current, tested, and unafraid to discard last year's best practice.

LEADERSHIP

Operators first, executives second

Every member of Ilmora's leadership team still does the work — reviewing architectures, publishing research, sitting in delivery retrospectives.

Amara Okafor

Chief Executive Officer

Founded Ilmora in 2016 after a decade leading platform engineering at scale. Sets the company's north star: enterprise AI that ships, measured in client outcomes rather than demos. Still reviews one delivery retrospective every week.

Daniel Reyes

Chief Technology Officer

Owns Ilmora's technical standards, reference architectures, and the evaluation-first delivery methodology used on every AI engagement. Previously built trading infrastructure where a bad deploy cost real money — a paranoia clients benefit from daily.

Lena Vogel

VP of AI Research

Leads Ilmora AI Labs — the applied research group behind our agentic systems practice, internal evaluation tooling, and published work on reliability in multi-agent systems. Bridges frontier research and what enterprises can actually run.

Sanjay Mehta

VP of Engineering

Runs the 400-engineer delivery organization: hiring bar, pod structure, quality gates, and the mentorship ladder that keeps senior talent in the codebase. Believes small senior teams beat large mediocre ones — and staffs accordingly.

TIMELINE

2016 → 2026

Ten years, 250+ delivered projects — the milestones that shaped how we work.

  1. 2016

    Ilmora is founded

Amara Okafor and four senior engineers open Ilmora's first office with a contrarian thesis: enterprises don't need more slideware about ML — they need teams who can ship it.

  2. 2018

    First Fortune 500 engagement

A logistics operator entrusts Ilmora with its demand-forecasting platform. The models cut stockouts 19% in the first season and the engagement becomes our longest-running client relationship.

  3. 2021

    AI Labs established

We formalize applied research under Lena Vogel: evaluation tooling, document intelligence, and early large-language-model integration work that would shape the next era of the company.

  4. 2023

    First production LLM systems ship

Document intelligence and knowledge-retrieval systems go live at three enterprise clients — with the evaluation-first methodology that becomes our signature. Ilmora Lens enters design partnership.

  5. 2024

    Agentic AI practice launches

We stand up a dedicated practice for autonomous and semi-autonomous agent systems, publishing our reliability patterns and shipping the first governed multi-agent workflows into regulated environments.

  6. 2025

    250th project delivered

The team passes 400 engineers and 250 delivered projects across 12 countries, with 98% client retention — a number we track more closely than revenue.

  7. 2026

    ISO/IEC 42001 certified

A decade in, Ilmora becomes one of the first firms of its size certified for responsible AI management — turning the governance practices we built for clients into an audited standard for ourselves.
