Cookie Policy

Exactly which cookies this site sets, what each one does, how long it lives, and how to say no — without dark patterns.

Last updated: March 4, 2026

01.What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies — localStorage, pixels, and SDK identifiers — serve comparable purposes, and this policy covers them all under “cookies.” Cookies set by us are “first-party”; cookies set by services we embed are “third-party.” This policy explains what we use, why, and how you stay in control. It supplements our Privacy Policy, which describes how any personal data collected via cookies is handled.

02.Categories we use

  • Strictly necessary — required for the Site to function: session handling, security, and remembering your consent choices. These cannot be switched off and do not require consent under the ePrivacy rules.
  • Functional — remember preferences such as theme and event registrations. Loaded only with your consent where required.
  • Analytics — first-party, privacy-focused measurement of how pages are used, with IP addresses truncated before storage. Loaded only with your consent where required.

We do not use advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share cookie-derived data for behavioral advertising as defined by the CCPA/CPRA.

05.Our analytics approach

We deliberately use first-party, privacy-focused analytics rather than large advertising ecosystems. IP addresses are truncated before storage, identifiers are not linked to your name unless you separately submit a form, data is retained for a maximum of 13 months, and no analytics data is disclosed to third parties for their own purposes. Aggregate results (“which pages are read, which are abandoned”) guide what we write and build.

06.Third-party cookies

The only third-party cookies we use are set by our event-registration platform, and only after you choose to register for a webinar or workshop. Embedded content on other pages (for example, links to our code repositories) are plain links and set no cookies from this Site. If we introduce new third-party services, this policy and the consent banner will be updated before they go live.

07.Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal: where your browser sends GPC, we treat it as a rejection of non-essential cookies for that visit and, in California, as an opt-out preference signal under the CPRA. Older “Do Not Track” signals lack a settled standard; we treat DNT the same way as GPC on this Site.

08.Managing cookies in your browser

Beyond our consent banner, every major browser lets you block or delete cookies — per-site or globally — under Settings → Privacy. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may break forms and multi-step flows on this Site.

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

10.Cookie data retention

Each cookie's lifetime is listed in the table above. Data collected via analytics cookies is retained in aggregate form for a maximum of 13 months and then deleted. Consent records are retained for as long as needed to demonstrate compliance, then deleted.

11.Changes to this policy & contact

We update this policy whenever the cookies we use change, and review it at least annually. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the current version; material changes will be reflected in the consent banner the next time you visit.
